Flight 6 reviews

Continuing with Flight issues, the sixth volume seems to be doing nicely and getting good reviews. It's also pretty heartwarming to see that my Kenneth Shuri story has been met with open arms. Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone!

SDCC 09

Better late than never, as they say, I guess. I finally got around to going through my photos from SDCC 09, so here's the first post. It was a blast hanging out with the Flight crew once again, as the atmosphere is welcoming, easy going and fun. This year's Comic-Con was fun, yet quite tiring, as I was badly jetlagged for the first few days. I have to admit I was pretty lazy with the camera this time around, as Bannister was shooting pics like a pro.

The Flight table was lined up with all sorts of goodies, once again. This year our booth was right next to the big guys, Marvel, DC, etc., so it was interesting to see the Con from another perspective.

Richard and Amy chatting to people. You can get a glimpse of the absurdity by checking out all the people on the aisles behind the table.

And it's no SDCC without the costumes! Meet the Fetts. These guys should start a jazz band. They're dressed to kill, man.

This pic was taken around 8 am, before the attendees were allowed indoors. It was nice to be able to have a walk around inside, see the stands and booths without all the hassle.

Snake-Eyes. Why isn't this guy in the movie?! His costume is kick-ass compared to the seabass version I've seen on the trailers... :D

sdcc7

Kean Soo doodling a Jellaby for a happy fan.

sdcc9

Bannister signing books. I bet it was a quiche again.

The best part of contributing in an anthology is probably the signing. The customers walked away with some pretty cool improvised collages and artwork once again. Hope you enjoyed them, guys! We sure had fun.

Getting ready for SDCC '09

ken_shuri1 San Diego Comic-Con is right around the corner, starting on Thursday the 23rd! I just flew in to LA yesterday and we're getting things sorted out for the show with the rest of the Flight crew coming in this year. Feeling a little jetlagged still: blank thoughts, having a hard time talking English, but things will start rolling when I get some good rest. :) The time difference is pretty extreme, and the trip here took 28 hours. I apologise in advance if I don't make any sense at the booth...

This year little old us will be stationed right next to Marvel and the rest of the big guys, so it'll be fun to see the whole shindig from another spot. Please pay us a visit! We'll be there with Bannister, Kean Soo, Rodolphe Guenoden, Phil Craven and Johane Matte, just to name a few, as well as our awesome hosts Kazu and Amy Kim Kibuishi. We'll be packing Amulet, Jellaby, Children of Elsewhere and the new Northern Overexposure 2 books, among other titles, as well as the latest volume (six already!) of Flight.

On a side note, thanks for Liam for mentioning my latest Flight entry, The Excitingly Mundane Life of Kenneth Shuri on Ain't it Cool News! You can read the review here.
